MamboPics Beta is Live

After a long hiatus, MamboPics is back. To ease the transition, it will temporarily be hosted on beta.MamboPics.com. That is, until everything has stabilized, and then it will be switched back to the original domain.

MamboPics will no longer contain only my own photos, but will become a community site that you can visit to see everyone's photos, arranged in a clean and easily navigable layout.

There is a slightly outdated video about some of the navigation features of the new MamboPics. Check it out:

MamboPics is on Hiatus

As many of you know, I am currently traveling around the world. Because of this, I am not going to be able to update MamboPics with pictures for quite some time. (i.e. I don’t have my camera or laptop with me). I still might have some surprise reviews of salsa and mambo dance clubs around the world.

The New MamboPics.com

Welcome to the new MamboPics.com. The site has undergone a complete makeover. Here are some highlights.

• Most requested feature: slide show… it’s now automatic


• Send a link of a photo to a friend. Just click “Get a link for this photo” above the photo, and copy and paste the link in an e-mail. The link takes you right to the photo like this.


• Your own MamboPics.com page. Let the world see which photos you like, and which photos are of you. Here is mine. (I hate photos of myself!) If you do not want to be listed on the users list page, or don’t want your page to be public at all, just set your privacy settings in your Profile page. To get to your MamboPics.com page, just click on your username at the top of the screen (*you must be logged on*).


• Rate the photos/photos of me. You can then send your friends slide shows of photos of you or your favorites. For example here are my photos rated 4 or more stars.

Up and coming.

• Best of MamboPics.com… depends on YOUR ratings.


• Search for photos with multiple people in it. e.g. All photos of X and Y.


• Contests/Raffles… win your favorite photo.

One more thing… if you have a website out there, a myspace page, or whatever… please link to this site… for example, to your MamboPics.com page.

David Melendez

It saddens me to learn that on Thursday February 8th, 2007, a friend, and one the founders of our salsa community, David Melendez, passed away.

Without his efforts our worldwide salsa community would not be what it is today.

Here are a couple of photos of David dancing salsa and hustle from back in May 2005.

iMambo.tv also has a great video tribute to him. You will be missed.
